DAHI VADA CHAT

Dahi Vada Chat

Ingredients


Split black gram (skinless)               2 cup

Asafoetida                                           1/4 tsp

Salt                                                        to taste

Red chili powder                                1 tsp

Dry coriander powder                      2 tsp

Garam masala                                    1 tsp

Chat masala                                        2 tsp

Dry mango powder                           2tsp

Roasted cumin powder                    1/2tsp

Sugar                                                    2 tbsp

Oil                                                         for frying

Mint chutney                                      2tbsp

Tamarind chutney                            2tbsp

Yogurt                                                   1 cup

For garnish


Fresh pomegranate seeds               2tbsp

Roasted Chana dal                           2tbsp

Method



Soak dal in water overnight. Drain excess water and grind the dal to make a smooth paste.


Add salt, 1/2 tsp of red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, chat masala, asafoetida to the paste and mix all the ingredients properly.

Whisk the dal for 5-10 mins to make the dal paste smooth. Keep aside for half an hour.

Heat oil in a pan for frying. Take spoonful of mixture and put in oil. Fry the vada till it becomes golden brown. 



Take out the vada from the oil and put them into the lukewarm water till the vada becomes soft.
Take out the vada from the water and squeeze it.

Whisk the curd properly. Add sugar and salt to taste and mix.

To arrange the Dahi vada chat, first put the vada on the serving bowl. Pour some curd on it. Add mint chutney, tamarind chutney, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, chat masala and salt to taste.

Garnish with pomegranate seeds and roasted Chana dal.

Dahi vada chat is ready to serve.

Serve chilled.
