Chicken curry
Possibly India's most popular non-vegetarian dish after Butter chicken. It is the easiest dish to make at home. Below is one of the many recipes to make this delicacy. Please try and help us improve.

Serves - 4
Ingredients
Chicken (with bone) 500gms
Onion paste 1
cup
Tomato puree 1
cup
Ginger paste 2

Garlic paste 1

Bay leaf 2
Black cardamom 2
Green cardamom 4
Black pepper corns 6
Cumin seeds 1

Red chili powder 1
tsp
Garam masala 2
tsp
Coriander powder 3 tsp
Turmeric powder 1
tsp
Salt to
taste
Chicken masala 2

For Marinate
Curd 1
cup
Ginger garlic Paste 2 tbsp
Salt 1tsp
Red chili powder ½

Coriander powder 1

Garam Masala powder 1

Method
Wash the chicken properly.
Mix curd, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala
powder, turmeric powder, chicken masala, Kashmiri red chili powder, oil, lemon
juice and salt in a large bowl. Add
chicken pieces to the mixture and marinate for 5~6 hours in a refrigerator.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cloves, cinnamon, green cardamom,
black cardamom, bay leaf, black pepper corns, cumin seeds and stir for 1
minute.
Add onion paste and cook till the paste turns golden brown. Add ginger
paste, garlic paste and green chilies and saute for 1 minute.
Add tomato puree and mix well. Cook on a medium fame till
oil leaves from the mixture.
Now add marinated chicken and mix thoroughly.
Cook on high flame while stirring for 5
minutes. Add 2 cups of water and stir for 1 minute.
Bring to boil. Cover the Pressure cooker and cook till first whistle. Simmer the flame and cook for 30~40 minutes. Switch off the flame and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Open the lid and check if chicken is cooked properly. If
required cook for some more time.
Chicken curry is ready. Garnish with onion rings and green
chili. Serve hot.
